All about mulimedia : Samsung R540-11

latest 15-inch laptop from Samsung performs well and plays games smoothly, but the faux wood is not for everyone.

Since its entry into the notebook market in the U.S., Samsung has created a reputation for strong matching components with head-turning designs. The Samsung RR540 continues this trend, although not necessarily in the best possible way. This 15-inch laptop ($ 999 as configured) has the power to even the most expensive machines in the weight category and provides smooth playback of Blu-ray. However, while the faux-wood pattern on the lid and the deck will definitely get stares, you will love one or hate it.Design
The £ 5.5 and 14,9 x 10,1 x 1,4 inches, the R540 is relatively light for a laptop with this screen size. The laptop has a smooth, brown plastic lid with a wood grain pattern, making it look like a countertop Formica. Not only does this area get fingerprints, has a somewhat cheap feel.
Inside, the Samsung's efforts to imitate wood surfaces are more successful. The palm rest and the chassis is still made of brown plastic, at least to have engraved wheat-painted on them, along with a more subtle matte finish. The touch buttons also have that look of faux-wood, though the touchpad itself is smooth, with a pattern of brown dots.
We give props to Samsung to try something different, but I much prefer the look and feel of U33Jc of ASUS. This 13-inch laptop using real bamboo, and is much more elegant.Keyboard and Touchpad
The R540 has joined keys are placed close together, as opposed to a chiclet-style layout. Even with adequately sized keys, the keyboard deck can accommodate even a full numeric keypad. Given the fact that Samsung does not skimp on the Insert key and right Shift, we were able to write quickly (for us at least) at 93 words per minute. As we entered, but he felt a movie under our fingers; This panel keyboard is not the sturdiest on the block. The touchpad is great, the 2,8 x 1,6 inches, but it felt smooth and offered by the non-resistance. The duo touch keys also are easy to push if you're on the noisy side and we were wishing they were a little taller so they can better accommodate the finger pad.Ambient Heat
Even after prolonged use, the R540 gets so hot and other notebooks in its class. After watching a clip Hulu in full screen for 15 minutes, measured temperatures of 88 degrees on the touchpad, 89 degrees in the center of the keyboard, and 83 degrees at the bottom of the machine. (He did, however, achieve a hot 100 degrees around the atmosphere.) This is not bad when you consider that the average notebook this size reaches temperatures of 90, 93 and 97 degrees in the same places.Display and Audio
The 15.6-inch screen has a resolution of 1366 x 768, which is standard for an inexpensive notebook of this size, and is good enough to watch video 720p. Although it has a player Blu-ray, the benefits could be lost this lower-resolution screen. When we saw "The Other Boleyn Girl" on Blu-ray, the picture was sharp, accurate colors, and bright screen, but thanks to the glossy screen had a difficult time writing the image when watching from the side or the lid is pushed forward.
