All about multimedia : Android Wars Continue patents: Microsoft Files Action Against Motorola

Today, Microsoft filed a complaint that Android-based phones Motorola nine violate Microsoft patents on the synchronization of calendar e-mail, contacts, scheduling meetings and notifying applications of changes in signal strength and battery power.
Horacio Gutierrez, the Microsoft corporate vice president and deputy general counsel, explained legal actions by Microsoft in a blog post citing a "responsibility to their customers, partners and shareholders to secure billions of dollars we invest each year to achieve breakthrough software products and services to market. "
SeattlePI said that Motorola, which is well invested in the Android platform is located amid the division to establish an independent phone company has not yet received a copy of the complaint and does not intend to comment at this time. Jennifer Erickson, Head of Communications for Motorola, said that "[t] he company will defend itself vigorously in this matter."
This is not the first action to be taken against firms that use the Android smartphone platform. In March, Apple turned in HTC and Android based phones, alleging the company infringed 20 of its patents. And in August, Oracle sued Google itself using the Java platform to Android.
Microsoft is probably trying to strengthen its position in the smart phone market after the big fumble that was Kin and mass loss data after the acquisition of Danger, makers of Sidekick messaging software. Sure hope Windows Phone 7 will be able to catch up with Apple's iPhone and the Android platform Google.
