All about multimedia : Sony VAIO Z

When the latter looked at the VAIO Z, said it was the closest thing to a perfect ultraportable laptop we've tested. Now Sony has updated the sturdy but sexy three-pound powerhouse with more and faster processors Core i5, while keeping everything else we love. The VAIO Z VPCZ133GM (1.969 dollars, as adjusted) continue to have switchable graphics of Nvidia, a beautiful 1600 x 900-pixel screen, a comfortable keyboard with backlighting, and zippy dual solid state drives. It is this lightweight wonder even the king of the hill?
Editors' Note: Portions of this review were taken from the previous review of the VAIO Z.Design
The silver VAIO Z (also available in black, the same price and Carbon Fiber for $ 50) is decorated with aluminum and magnesium, which gives the system a premium feel. We especially like the brushed metal deck and circular hinges (complete with glowing green button on the right). The black box serves as a nice accent, and we appreciate that the surface is matte, not shiny.
Other design features include four buttons above the keyboard: Assist (which starts VAIO Care software), the shortcut button, a button to launch the VAIO Media Gallery, and an eject button for the optical drive. On the left side you will find a switch on the system's graphics notebook, which you can choose between speed, endurance, and how to Auto.
Weighing a further £ 3 - about 3.2 ounces heavier than most netbooks - and measuring 12,4 x 8,3 x 1,3 inches, the VAIO Z is extremely light characteristics. In fact, we felt that barely backpack on our way to the office.Touchpad and keyboard
With plenty of space between the keys and a nice feeling bouncy, the keyboard on the VAIO Z is one of the best we've used in ultraportable. Although the keys themselves are a bit on the small side, I typed in your notebook quickly and easily. Touch typists will appreciate the big Enter button and right Shift.
As you would expect at this price, every key individually backlit, making it easy for us to continue working as we entered the Lincoln Tunnel leading to a bus. We just wish that Sony could alter the function keys like other notebook vendors, so you can raise and lower the intensity or brightness without having to press the Fn key first, but this is a minor nitpick.
The VAIO Z sports a fairly wide multitouch touch-enabled (3,2 x 1,2 inches), which enabled the smooth and fast navigation cursor. The pinch-to-zoom gesture worked well in the library of images, but you do not have much vertical space to stretch your fingers. Our biggest issue that we had a meeting with the machine we tested in March, was that the cursor sometimes jumped left hand when we accidentally brushed against the touchpad.
Because the touch keys separated by a fingerprint sensor is on the small side. Because these buttons are on the brink of a machine, which has a slight slope downward, somewhat hard to push to get used to them. However, it provides constant feedback.Heat
Although a faster processor, this version of the VAIO Z actually ran cooler than the last generation model. After the video streaming Hulu for 15 minutes, measured temperatures of 81, 90 and 92 points respectively for the touchpad, between G and H keys on the bottom of the laptop. The VPCZ114GX / S we tested in March recorded temps of 90, 98 and 101 degrees in the same areas. The only part of the laptop he was feeling hot area near the atmosphere, which reached 106 degrees. However, this is even cooler than last time around (114).Display and Audio
One of our favorite features of the VAIO Z - one of the reasons why it is worth the premium - is a high resolution of 1600 x 900 screen LED. This bright and clean panel really makes you feel like you're working on a larger screen. Colors popped when we were editing pictures and watching DVD, and horizontal viewing angles of the screen is the best we've seen. In other words, this ultraportable is ideal for presentations deskside, watching movies and playing games (and has the graphics chops to back it up). We also like that high resolution on the potential of Windows 7, such as Snap to compare two windows side by side.
The twin speakers above the keyboard of VAIO Z produced quite clearly, but not very loud sound when we streamed Green Day songs from Slacker. Dialogue during an episode of Glee for Fox.com was clear.
